PERLITE BLOCK

  Lightweight perlite block

Perlite block is a thermal insulating lightweight block  consists of Portland cement and expanded perlite with ordinary constructional aggregate manufactured in the same shape, dimensions and design as the concrete hollow blocks. it is widely used in U.S.A ,Europe and other advanced countries , for the simple reason that it is lightweight ,acoustic, and has a very good thermal insulation,

It is used for firewall ,room partitions and in high-rise  building where deadload counts ,also in bank vaults, cold storage , music-recording studios, theaters and audio auditoriums, where heat ,cold, and sound insulation is a paramount concern.

  •             General characteristics of perlite blocks

  • dry bulk density for hollow blocks is from 700-1000 kg/m3.
  • dry bulk density for solid blocks is from 1000-1200 kg/m3.
  • Thermal conductivity (k) :- 0.11 – 0.30 W/M.C
  • Thermal resistance (R) :-=(d* X 1/K) M2.C/W
  • d :- block depth
  • For 10 x 20 x40 cm block  Weight = 6.50 – 7.50 kg
  • For 15 x 20 x40 cm block  Weight = 9.50 – 10.50 kg
  • Compressive strength 15 -25 kg /cm2 after 28 days.

  • §                   Advantages of perlite blocks

  1. Lightweight –used to lighten the weight in walls and slabs .
  2. Easy to handle and transport.
  3. excellent thermal & acoustic insulation.
  4. fire retardant – non-combustible , non- toxic.
  5. High resistance to chemicals.
  6. Available in different sizes.
